Who can apply
Apni Chhat Apna Ghar is for low-income Punjab families who own land but have no house on it. The plot, not your salary, is the starting condition.
- Permanent resident of Punjab with a valid CNIC
- Head of the family according to NADRA records
- Owns a plot within the size limits, with documents in their name
- Does not already own a built house
- Registered in the National Socio-Economic Registry with a PMT score of 60 or below
- Not a bank defaulter and no criminal record
Apni Chhat Apna Ghar is open to permanent residents of Punjab who own a plot of up to 5 marla in an urban area or up to 10 marla in a rural area and do not already own a constructed house. Applicants must be the head of the family in NADRA records and hold a poverty score of 60 or below in the National Socio-Economic Registry, the same survey used for other welfare programmes.

What the loan costs you
Nothing in markup. The scheme carries no interest and no service charges, so you repay only what you borrowed.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Maximum loan | Rs1,500,000 |
| Markup | Nil |
| Repayment period | 9 years (108 months), including a three-month grace period |
| Maximum monthly instalment | About Rs14,000 |
| First payment due | After a three-month grace period |
| Total repaid on a full Rs1.5m loan | Rs1,500,000 |
Our read: compare that with the federal Apna Ghar Program, where Rs1.5 million at 5% over seven years would cost roughly Rs21,200 a month and about Rs280,000 in markup. The Punjab scheme is far cheaper, but it is smaller, limited to Punjab, and only for people who already own a plot. Side by side: Apni Chhat Apna Ghar vs the federal Apna Ghar Program.

How the money reaches you
Apni Chhat Apna Ghar does not pay the loan as a single lump sum. The amount is released in tranches tied to construction progress, through the Bank of Punjab and partner institutions, so each instalment of the loan follows verified building work on the applicant's own plot. Applicants who have already started construction can apply for funds to complete it.
Where the programme stands
Punjab reports large numbers, though they come from government statements rather than an audited public dataset. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said in October 2026 that more than 200,000 homes had been delivered, and the programme won a UN-Habitat Scroll of Honour that month. Earlier official reporting put the target at 160,000 homes by June 2026.
Figures are as announced by the Punjab government and reported in national media. We have not seen a published dataset behind them.
Common questions
Do I need to own a plot first?
Yes. This scheme builds on land you already own. If you have no plot, look at the separate Punjab scheme that allots small plots, or the federal programme that finances purchase.
Is it really interest-free?
Yes. The Chief Minister announced it with no interest, hidden charges or service charges.
Can I apply if my PMT score is above 60?
Not as things stand. You can ask for a resurvey through your nearest BISP office if you believe your score is wrong.
Is there a fee to apply?
No. The portal is free and anyone asking for payment is not an official channel.
