Parwaaz Card Repayment: What Is Known So Far

The Parwaaz Card is interest-free and repaid in instalments, but the Punjab government has not published the term, the instalment size or the start date for repayment. Officials describe "easy instalments" and the Bank of Punjab handles the loan, so the schedule you sign at the branch is the only figure that counts. Get it in writing before you accept the money.

Parwaaz Card borrowing carries no markup: the Punjab Skills Development Fund and the Bank of Punjab agreed to provide interest-free loans of up to Rs1 million to skilled young people taking jobs abroad, repayable in instalments. Neither the repayment period nor the instalment amount has been published, so the schedule issued by the bank at the time of sanction is the authoritative figure.

What repayment would look like at different terms

Since there is no markup, the instalment is simply the amount borrowed divided by the number of months. These are illustrations, not the scheme's terms.

Questions to ask the bank before signing

  1. Step 1

What is the repayment term in months?

  2. Step 2

When does the first instalment fall due, before or after I start earning abroad?

  3. Step 3

What is the exact monthly amount?

  4. Step 4

How do I pay from abroad, and what does the transfer cost?

  5. Step 5

Is there any charge for early settlement, or any rebate?

  6. Step 6

What happens if the job ends early or the visa is refused?

  7. Step 7 · Final step

Who do I contact if I fall behind?

Ask for the answers on the sanction letter, not verbally. A loan with no markup still creates a default record if it is not repaid.

Paying from abroad

Our read: the practical risk in this scheme is not the cost of the money, it is the mechanics of paying it back from another country. Set up a way to pay before you leave: standing instructions from an account a family member can fund, or a remittance route you have tested once. Workers who leave with no payment arrangement tend to miss the first instalments while they are still settling in, and that is the point at which an interest-free loan starts causing damage.

If the plan falls apart

SituationWhat to do
Visa refused after disbursementTell the bank at once and ask about returning unused funds
Employer cancels the contractReport it to the promoter and the bank; keep all correspondence
Job ends early abroadAsk the bank about rescheduling before missing a payment
Salary delayed by the employerContact the bank in advance; silence is what turns a delay into a default

Common questions

Does interest-free mean no charges at all?

No markup is charged on the loan. Ask whether any bank service or transfer charges apply.

Can I repay early?

Ask the branch. With no markup, early repayment mainly clears your record sooner.

Will a default affect other schemes?

Yes. Government loan schemes, including the federal Apna Ghar Program, exclude defaulters.
