TOK Fuel Token: Subsidised Petrol at the Pump
A TOK fuel token is the SMS code that unlocks Rs100 off per litre at the petrol pump under the PM Fuel Relief Scheme. Once registered, send TOK to 9771, show the token you receive to the pump attendant, and the discount is applied. Since 25 September 2026 a motorcycle or rickshaw token is worth Rs500 with no litre limit, issued once a week; a car token (up to 800cc) covers 10 litres at Rs100 off.
How to request a TOK token from 9771
You request a PM Fuel Relief Scheme token by sending the three letters TOK as an SMS to 9771 from the same SIM you registered with.
-
Step 1
Make sure your REG registration was confirmed. A token request from an unregistered SIM will not work. Not registered yet? Follow the correct REG message format.
-
Step 2
Type
TOKin a new message to 9771. Nothing else is needed. -
Step 3
Wait for the reply SMS containing your token.
-
Step 4 · Final step
Go to the pump and fill up within the token's window (see below).
Using the token at the petrol pump
At the pump, the TOK token works as proof that your vehicle is registered and still has quota left this month.
- Tell the attendant you want subsidised petrol under the PM Fuel Relief Scheme.
- Show the token SMS on your phone.
- The attendant fills the token's litres; you pay Rs100 less for each of those litres.
- Litres beyond the token are charged at the normal pump price.
Petrol stations do not lose money on PM Fuel Relief Scheme sales. The State Bank of Pakistan processes claims received each day on the same day, and the first three days of claims were settled in full. Pump operators have their own control room on 9772, and magistrates have been deployed at stations to monitor implementation.
How many litres each token gives, and how often
The size of a TOK token depends on the vehicle type, and the monthly quota sets how many tokens you can use.
| Motorcycle · Rickshaw · Qingqi | Car up to 800cc | |
|---|---|---|
| What a token gives | Rs500 off, no litre limit | Rs100 off each of 10 litres |
| Discount per token | Rs500 | Rs1,000 |
| Token cycle | One token a week, worth Rs500 | 10 litres every 10 days |
| Monthly benefit | Rs2,000 (four tokens) | Rs3,000 (30 litres) |
| Tokens per month | Up to 4 | Up to 3 |
| Maximum monthly discount | Rs2,000 | Rs3,000 |
Under the PM Fuel Relief Scheme, motorcycles, rickshaws and Qingqis receive one token a week worth Rs500, up to four a month. Cars up to 800cc receive 10 litres every 10 days, three times a month. Where a fuel station has no internet access, tokens can be redeemed by SMS, a measure approved on 19 September 2026.
How long a TOK token stays valid
The validity of a single TOK token has not been clearly confirmed in official statements. One report said tokens last "a few hours"; another described 7 days for bikes and 10 days for cars. The 7- and 10-day figures match the reported weekly and 10-day token cycles, so they most likely describe how often you can get a new token, not how long one token lasts.
Practical advice: send TOK when you are close to the pump, not the night before. If a token is refused as expired, request a new one.
What if the pump refuses your token?
| Problem | Likely reason | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Attendant says pump is not part of the scheme | Every open station is being brought onto the system by order of 19 Sep 2026; diesel-only and closed pumps are excluded | Ask the station manager whether the pump is enrolled, or try another station |
| Token shows as used or invalid | Token already redeemed, or requested too early | Send TOK again for a fresh token |
| No token reply | Registration not confirmed, or network delay | Check your confirmation SMS; see 9771 registration failed: causes and fixes |
| Monthly benefit used up | Four Rs500 tokens taken, or the 30-litre car allowance used | Wait for the next month; buy extra petrol at the normal price |
What a token is worth at today's petrol price
At Rs377.91 per litre (notified for 31 October - 2 November 2026), a bike token takes Rs500 off whatever you put in: a Rs1,889.55 fill-up of 5 litres costs Rs1,389.55, and so does any larger purchase less Rs500. A 10-litre car token cuts Rs3,779.10 to Rs2,779.10. Prices change often; see subsidised petrol price calculator for the current figure.
Common questions about TOK tokens
Can I use my token for diesel or CNG?
No. The PM Fuel Relief Scheme covers petrol only.
Can someone else use my token?
The token is linked to your registered vehicle and CNIC. Use it only for that vehicle.
Is there still a five-litre limit on a bike token?
This has not been officially clarified. To get full value, fill the whole token amount in one visit.
