Fuel Subsidy Scams: Fake Apply Online Sites

There is no online application, app download or fee for the PM Fuel Relief Scheme. Registration works only by SMS to 9771 from a SIM in your own name, and government announcements name no official scheme website. Any website, WhatsApp message or caller asking you to "apply online", pay a fee, or share an OTP to get the Rs100 petrol subsidy is not an official channel.

The federal government has said it does not charge any registration fee for the PM Fuel Relief Scheme and will never ask citizens for payment. Registration requires only four details sent by SMS to 9771: CNIC number, vehicle plate number, province code and vehicle registration date.

Warning signs of a fake fuel subsidy site or message

  • "Apply online" forms asking for your CNIC, phone number or vehicle details. The scheme has no web form.
  • Any fee, "processing charge" or request to send Easypaisa/JazzCash payment.
  • Requests for an OTP, PIN or verification code. The 9771 process never needs you to share a code with anyone.
  • APK files or apps that promise registration or "extra litres".
  • WhatsApp forwards with links claiming a higher quota, cash payment or a new deadline.
  • Any site calling itself the official portal. Several domains do, among them pmrelief.pk, fuelrelief.pk, 9771.pk, pmfuelrelief.pk and pmfuelrelief.com.pk, and no government announcement names any of them. Official information appears on gov.pk domains.
  • Short codes other than 9771 for registration.

Why "apply online" pages are risky even without a fee

A website that collects CNIC numbers, phone numbers and vehicle details for the PM Fuel Relief Scheme has no role in the actual registration, which is handled only through 9771. The data can be reused for SIM fraud, fake loan applications or targeted phishing calls, so entering your details on such a page gives away personal information without registering you.

Common scam scripts

What they sayThe truth
"Your registration is pending. Send Rs500 to activate."There is no activation fee.
"Share the code we just sent to confirm your fuel subsidy."That code is likely for your bank, wallet or WhatsApp account. Never share it.
"Download our app to get 50 litres instead of 20."Quotas are fixed at 20 L (bikes, rickshaws) and 30 L (cars up to 800cc).
"Register your second car through our agent."Reports indicate one CNIC can register only one vehicle, and cars above 800cc are not eligible.
