Chromebook Scheme Registration: Portal Steps

Register at pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk only if your name is on your board's list of eligible students. Select your board, enter your B-Form or CNIC number, or your roll or registration number, with no dashes, plus your date of birth. Check the record the portal shows you, upload four documents of 300 KB or less each, submit, and download the slip. There is no fee, one application per student, and the form cannot be changed once it is in.

Before you open the portal

Three things decide whether this takes ten minutes or three days. Do them first.

  • Check your board's list. The portal has no search for people who are not on it. If your name is not on the list your board published, registering is not possible and the route is to ask your board, not to try the form again.
  • Get the attestations done. Both CNIC copies have to be attested before you upload them. This is the step that sends students back out of the portal halfway through.
  • Get all four files under 300 KB. A photograph taken on a phone is normally two to five megabytes, which is ten to twenty times the limit.

For who is on the list in the first place, see the main Chromebook Scheme guide.

Registering, step by step

  1. Step 1

Open pmychromebooks.ibcc.edu.pk. Check the address before you type anything into it. A look-alike site is already running on a similar name.

  2. Step 2

Select your board from the menu. If your board is not listed, your region has not opened yet and there is nothing to submit today.

  3. Step 3

Enter your number and date of birth. Use your B-Form or CNIC number, or your roll or registration number. Type the digits only, with no dashes, and give the date of birth your board holds, which is the one on your B-Form.

  4. Step 4

Check the record the portal shows. Your name, school and marks come from your board's own list. Read them now: this is the last point at which an error is cheap to fix.

  5. Step 5

Upload the four documents. Each one has to be 300 KB or smaller. Upload the correct file in each slot; a mark sheet in the CNIC box is still a failed verification later.

  6. Step 6 · Final step

Submit and download the slip. You get a reference number. Save the slip and photograph it as well, because you will be asked for the reference if anything needs following up.

The portal's own instructions: enter numbers only, without dashes; if the record is not found, try the roll or registration number instead of the CNIC or B-Form; if it is still not found, contact your board. One application is allowed per student, and the form cannot be changed after submission. False information cancels the Chromebook allocation and may lead to further action.

Getting a file under 300 KB

This is the practical obstacle, not the form. A mark sheet photographed on a phone is usually several megabytes, and the portal will not take it.

  • Use your phone's document scan, in the camera or notes app, rather than an ordinary photograph. It flattens the page and produces a far smaller file.
  • Drop the resolution. About 1,200 pixels on the long edge is enough for a mark sheet to stay readable.
  • Save as JPG, not PNG, for anything photographed. A PNG of a scanned page is often five times larger for no gain.
  • Crop to the document. Table edges and floor tiles are bytes you are spending on nothing.
  • Check it is still readable at full size before you upload. A 90 KB file nobody can read is worse than no file.

Scan quality matters beyond the upload: your school head has to verify the same details against school records on the Ministry's proforma, and a blurred mark sheet makes that slower.

The portal publishes no helpline number and no email address. Every route back runs through your education board. Anyone offering a Chromebook scheme helpline is not quoting an official source.

After you submit

Registration is not the end of the process. The device is handed over against paperwork your school completes.

  • The head of your institution endorses the Ministry's Student Eligibility and Distribution Proforma, confirming you are a regular student and that the marks match school records, and stamps it.
  • BISE Peshawar instructs school heads to send the signed hard copy to the IBCC office in Islamabad.
  • At handover, a Distribution Committee writes the Chromebook's serial number and the date of issue onto that form, so each device is logged against a named student.
  • The declaration on the form commits you to using the device for educational purposes.

What this costs

Nothing. No fee appears on the registration portal, in the Ministry proforma, or in any board notice. There is no processing charge, no form fee and no payment for the device, the MiFi or the bag. Anyone asking for money at any stage of this scheme is not operating it.

Common questions

Can I register if my name is not on the list?

No. The portal only recognises records the boards have already sent to IBCC. If you believe you should be on the list, the correction has to come from your board.

Can I apply twice to improve my chances?

No. The portal allows one application per student and says so on the form.

I made a mistake. Can I edit it?

Not yourself. The portal states the form cannot be changed after submission. Raise the error with your board.

Do I need a CNIC, or is a B-Form enough?

A B-Form is accepted. The portal asks for a CNIC only where the student holds one.

What is the last date?

The portal publishes none. Each board sets its own and announces it in its own notice, and at least one board's date closed before the scheme was publicly launched. Check your board's website rather than a national figure.

Does registering mean I get a Chromebook?

No. Registration confirms the record of a student the board has already shortlisted. Allocation follows merit within your board, and no board has published the marks at which its list stopped.
